Grinch Heart Craft

“Maybe Christmas (he thought) doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas perhaps means a little bit more.” – Dr. Seuss

This may not be a Disney craft, but we consider The Grinch a staple in this house every Christmas. My daughter loves watching all the versions every year!

As we all know, the Grinch is NOT a fan of Christmas at all, until he learns the true meaning of Christmas from the residents of Whoville. Then what happens? His heart grows 3 sizes! “And then the true meaning of Christmas came through, and the Grinch found the strength of ten Grinches plus two!” – Dr. Seuss

For this craft, all you need is:

  • Construction Paper
  • Scissors
  • Heart cookie cutters, a few different sizes
  • Erasable pencil
  • Crayons

First take your smallest cookie cutter and trace it on the very left side of your paper. Then take your middle size cookie cutter and trace it next to the first, with their sides overlapping just a bit. Then do the same with your last and biggest cookie cutter.

Then all you will do is cut along the edges of the hearts but don’t cut where they overlap. It should look something like this…

Erase any pencil marks that you see and now you’re ready for the most important part!

I asked my 4 year old to think of 3 things that she loved about Christmas or doing at Christmas time. Then she drew them, one on each heart. I then added the title at the bottom of the biggest heart with the sharpie. Now you can fold it up where the smallest heart is on top, then you can unfold to reveal the bigger hearts!

This is such a fun and easy craft for the kids, and takes away from the focus on presents to other fun activities that Christmas time can bring!

What would be your 3 favorite things about Christmas?
